The event, held Saturday, April 27, at the Stamford Police Department, turned out to be a record-breaking day with 17 full large boxes or 476.5 pounds of drugs dropped off during the drive-thru and drop-it event, said Stamford Capt. Richard Conklin.
Sponsored across the country by the Drug Enforcement Agency, the day is held in an effort to cut down on drug abuse and the availability of drugs to teens and children.
"As the day went on we observed that this would be a record-breaking total and arrangements were for a second vehicle to transport the proceeds of this DEA Prescription drug takeback to the incinerator upstate," Conklin said.
The event will take place in October 2019 with a date to be announced.
